Meet the Team

The Karim Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees, who give their time and expertise for free.

Shahida Rahman
Trustee and Chair of the Board of Trustees

Shahida is an award-winning author and writer, born and raised in Cambridge. Her latest historical novel ‘An Ayah’s Choice’ was published in March 2022. She currently works for Cambridge University Press and Assessment. Shahida is also a Trustee of Cambridge Central Mosque – the first Eco-Mosque in Europe – as well as an advisor to the Trustees at the Museum of Cambridge.

Dr Kal Karim
Trustee

Kal is an Associate Professor at the University of Leicester. His research is in the area of nanotechnology, while teaching numerous subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Kal also specialises in employability and academic integrity. Born and raised in Cambridge, he is also a Community Governor at Chesterton Community College.

Jeandre Hunter
Trustee

Jeandre is a procurement specialist, having worked in local government in London, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire on numerous projects supporting community initiatives. Born and raised in South Africa and then settling in the UK over 20 years ago, she has also worked in social care, helping to improve lives and outcomes for all those she has supported.

Ibrahim Rahman
Director of Communications

Ibrahim is a Social Media Coordinator at the University of Cambridge. Born and bred in Cambridge, Ibrahim brings a wealth of media and communications experience having previously worked as a production journalist at ITV Anglia, leading their diversity initiative for the East of England, and as a reporter for BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
