Meet the Team

The Karim Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees, who give their time and expertise for free.

Dr Kal Karim

Kal is an Associate Professor at the University of Leicester. His research is in the area of nanotechnology, while teaching numerous subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Kal also specialises in employability and academic integrity. Born and raised in Cambridge, he is also a Community Governor at Chesterton Community College.

Shahida Rahman

Shahida is an award-winning author, writer and publisher, born and raised in Cambridge. Her first historical novel ‘Lascar’ was published in 2012. She currently works for Cambridge University Press and Assessment. Shahida is also a Trustee of Cambridge Central Mosque – the first Eco-Mosque in Europe. She is an advisor to the Trustees at the Museum of Cambridge and is also a member of the community panel at Kettle’s Yard.

Jeandre Hunter

Jeandre is a procurement specialist, having worked in local government in London, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire on numerous projects supporting community initiatives. Born and raised in South Africa and then settling in the UK over 20 years ago, she has also worked in social care, helping to improve lives and outcomes for all those she has supported.

Ibrahim Rahman

Ibrahim is a social media practitioner at the University of Cambridge. He recently served as the Social Media Officer of Cambridge Central Mosque. Born and bred in Cambridge, Ibrahim also brings broadcast media experience, having previously worked as a production journalist at ITV Anglia, leading their diversity initiative for the East of England.
