A Visit to the Arthur Rank Hospice
The Karim Foundation recently visited the Arthur Rank Hospice in Cambridge.
Trustees Kal Karim and Shahida Rahman were welcomed by the Hospice’s CEO Sharon Allen and HR Director Gemma Manning, and were given a wonderful tour of the beautifully designed facility.
The Arthur Rank Hospice supports people in Cambridgeshire who live with an advanced illness or other life-limiting condition, and those who need end of life care.
We first connected with Sharon back in November 2020 – when we were both invited to speak about our respective organisations at the Cambridge Ethnic Community Forum‘s Annual General Meeting – gaining further insight into what the Hospice provides. They noticed that fewer people from our Asian community were accessing their services and wanted to learn how they could improve accessibility. They released a short and anonymous questionnaire to the local Asian community which would provide the Hospice with valuable insight and a better understanding of their needs and preferences.
We supported this engagement exercise by helping to develop an information poster highlighting the services of the Hospice. Many of these posters will be distributed across the city.
Delighted to welcome @shahidarahman @karim_kal @ihrahman to @ArthurRankHouse today, sharing what we can offer to the Asian community, including our new info poster that @Karim_Fdn supported us to develop. The Karim Foundation hopes to continue working together with the Arthur Rank Hospice and support all their efforts going forward.
Thank you for hosting us, Sharon and Gemma!
