Cambridge Ramadan Appeal

The Karim Foundation launches its Cambridge Ramadan Appeal for 2026, with this year’s campaign dedicated to supporting vulnerable women in crisis living in and around the city of Cambridge.

Since 2021, our annual Ramadan campaign has helped local residents in financial hardship, and has delivered vital food support to refugees and asylum seekers across Cambridge and the neighbouring towns and villages.

This Ramadan, the Karim Foundation is shining a spotlight on women facing acute hardship – including single mothers, survivors of domestic abuse, migrant women, and those at risk of homelessness.

Many women in crisis are forced to make impossible choices between rent, food, heating, and caring for their children. Others face isolation, insecure immigration status, or barriers to accessing mainstream support. Through this year’s Appeal, the Karim Foundation aims to provide essential food and fuel support, and practical assistance to help women regain stability and dignity.

“Ramadan is a month of reflection, compassion and action. While many of us are blessed with stability, there are women across Cambridge right now who are experiencing severe hardship,” said Shahida Rahman, Chair of the Board of Trustees at the Karim Foundation.

“Your donations during this blessed month can provide life-saving support, and help these women move from struggle to safety, dignity and hope.”

“Behind some of the hardship cases we have seen is a woman holding everything together for her family, often while facing enormous challenges herself,” said Jeandre Hunter, Trustee of the Karim Foundation.

“This Ramadan, we stand alongside those women who are struggling in silence. We want to ensure that no woman in our communities feels alone or unsupported during a time of crisis.”

For the sixth consecutive year, the Karim Foundation continues to work collaboratively with local partners including the Cambridge Ethnic Community Forum and Cambridge City Council to ensure vital support reaches those who need it most as soon as possible.

During Ramadan, Muslims around the world refrain from eating and drinking during daylight hours. Many will increase their charitable giving as an expression of faith and solidarity with those in hardship. This year’s Appeal is an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of women struggling in our local communities, providing emergency assistance, essential supplies, and a pathway to safety for those in crisis.

Please give whatever you can to this year’s Cambridge Ramadan Appeal and help us protect and uplift vulnerable women in Cambridge and beyond. We wish everyone in Cambridge and around the world a peaceful and blessed Ramadan.

Please donate generously and thank you for your support. Ramadan Kareem.
