Ibrahim Rahman Highly Commended at Anglia Ruskin University Alumni Awards

Our Director of Communications Ibrahim Rahman was highly commended for the Voluntary Service Award at the Anglia Ruskin University Vice Chancellor’s Outstanding Alumni Awards.
Ibrahim was one of four finalists shortlisted for this award alongside fellow graduates Oa Hackett, Hanieh Hosseinpour and Teodora Tudzharova, recognising alumni whose voluntary work has made a positive impact through community service, fundraising or volunteering.
He attended the awards ceremony held at the University’s Chelmsford campus, where he was announced as ‘Highly Commended’ for his voluntary work in communications and fundraising for the Karim Foundation.
“I’m honoured to have been highly commended for the Voluntary Service Award,” Ibrahim said.
“Volunteering has played a huge role in shaping my career, and it’s a privilege to be able to apply what I’ve learned professionally in social media and communications in recent years, in order to support those in financial hardship.
“It’s very humbling to receive this recognition from Anglia Ruskin University, and I really want to dedicate this to everyone at the Karim Foundation. We’re just a small, close-knit and hardworking team who simply want to help with improving the lives of those less fortunate around us – this commendation is very much for you.”
The winner of the Voluntary Service Award was Oa Hackett, awarded for leading a multi-award-winning charity that has raised over £2 million and supported more than 28,000 breast cancer patients through 10 NHS hospital partnerships.
The glittering ceremony, held on Thursday 24 April, welcomed back 34 finalists across seven award categories, celebrating graduates who have also made notable contributions to communities, culture, enterprise, public service and sustainability around the world.
Professor Roderick Watkins, Vice Chancellor of Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) said: “The calibre of our nominees has been outstanding. It has been a great pleasure to learn more about their success, and we are proud to recognise their dedication, passion and commitment. They are inspirational role models to our students and our ARU community.”
