The Karim Foundation is proud to be partnering with Abbey People.

As of this month, we have started to provide culturally appropriate food items to their Abbey Food Hub, helping ensure local residents can access food that reflects their culture and everyday needs.

Abbey People are a vibrant community charity in the Abbey ward of Cambridge, committed to improving the lives and wellbeing of Abbey residents.

They do this through targeted community projects, provision of general anti-poverty support, supporting access to education and employment, projects to improve the environment, and by developing a culture of volunteering in the community.

Nicky Shepard, Chief Executive Officer of Abbey People, said: “We’re really excited to partner with the Karim Foundation, and specifically around trying to make sure that we have culturally appropriate food here in the Abbey Food Hub, for all of the different people who come here to get food that fits their life and their culture.”

“We’re delighted to be partnering with Abbey People, and recognise the outstanding work that they do every week to help residents in need,” said Shahida Rahman, Trustee of the Karim Foundation.

The Abbey Food Hub runs on Mondays from 1-2.30pm, Wednesdays from 3.30-5.30pm, and Saturdays from 11am-12pm, at the East Barnwell Community Centre on Newmarket Road.
