Ramadan Update

Published by Ibrahim Rahman on

We have collectively raised more than £1,800 for the Cambridge Ramadan Appeal since launching three weeks ago.

We are really grateful for every donation that we have received so far. Your generous contributions have provided Cambridge residents in need with essential foods such as halal meat and chicken, fish, rice/couscous, chick peas, lentils and cooking oil.

We have been delighted to receive the support of local businesses and organisations around the city. Some restaurants, food stores and mosques have kindly put our ‘window’ posters on display during the month.

“We have been moved by the response of Cambridge businesses, organisations and the general public to get behind this campaign,” said Trustee Shahida Rahman. “We are so grateful to all of you who have made a donation and have helped to raise awareness.”

We enter the last third of Ramadan where these final ten days hold greater significance and benefits for Muslims. Laylatul Qadr (the Night of Power) is one of the most sacred nights in the Islamic calendar, which takes place in the last ten days of the holy month. It was the night in which the Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

These remaining days give Muslims a huge opportunity to do as much good as possible – and giving charity is one form of worship that carries immense reward.

Please give whatever you can in these last ten days. Thank you once again for your kindness and generosity.
